As the spring anime season draws to a close, it’s time to turn our attention to what’s coming next — and the Summer 2025 anime season looks absolutely stacked. We’re getting a slew of highly anticipated sequels like Call of the Night Season 2, Dandadan Season 2, and Kaiju No. 8 Season 2. However, surprisingly, none of those are the series I’m most excited about.
That honor goes to a brand-new title debuting this summer: Secrets of the Silent Witch. Why this one in particular? Let me explain.

So, what’s Secrets of the Silent Witch about? It follows Monica, a powerful witch assigned the mission of protecting Prince Felix Arc Ridell — the second prince of the Kingdom of Ridell. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, not quite. Monica has a major problem: she’s a complete shut-in. Think Bocchi the Rock levels of social anxiety. In fact, I like to call her “Bocchi the Witch” because of how strikingly similar the two are. Both are terrified of crowds, struggle with conversations, and frequently end up on the floor when trying to talk to people. But in Monica’s case, it’s arguably worse — she might faint or throw up if forced to interact with a large group or someone important.
It seems like a recipe for disaster, especially since Monica has to infiltrate the same academy where Prince Felix is studying and act like an ordinary student while secretly protecting him. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Through her time at Serendia Academy, Monica gradually starts forming real friendships with classmates who come to care for her. In fact, I’d say Secrets of the Silent Witch is just as much a story about personal growth as it is about fantasy or action. It’s about Monica evolving — from someone who’s spent years in isolation to someone who slowly becomes more open, confident, and willing to step outside her comfort zone to help others.

Of course, it’s not all heartwarming slice-of-life moments. There’s real danger lurking too. Monica isn’t just protecting the prince from afar — there are genuine assassination threats and villains who know exactly who The Silent Witch really is. Depending on how much of the source material the anime adapts, we’re in for some serious drama and potentially intense action scenes.
One aspect I’m especially looking forward to is how Monica interacts with the people around her — especially Prince Felix. Given how socially anxious she is, I can already imagine the awkward misunderstandings and unintentional chaos that might ensue. To make things even more interesting, Monica ends up joining the student council, which is bound to stir jealousy among her peers — particularly the girls who have their eyes on Felix. Whether Monica manages to survive this overwhelming social jungle or ends up curled in a corner somewhere remains to be seen. Will she rise to the challenge and stand her ground? Or will her newfound friends — Lana, Isabelle, and Claudia — help her navigate these unfamiliar waters?

Another element I’ll be keeping a close eye on is the animation quality. Studio Gokumi is handling the production, and with staff who’ve previously worked on titles like Konosuba, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, and OreGairu, my expectations are sky-high. I’m really hoping they bring their A-game — both in terms of storytelling and visuals.
Secrets of the Silent Witch is easily my most anticipated anime of the Summer 2025 season. I have very high hopes for it — not just to entertain, but to leave a lasting impression. Whether it lives up to those expectations is yet to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: I’ll be watching closely and rooting for Monica every step of the way. Here’s hoping Secrets of the Silent Witch delivers something truly magical.
