Of all the char kway teow stalls in Singapore, People’s Park Kway Teow has been my most sought after as my aunt has always lauded it as one of the best in Singapore. I finally tried it when I went to Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre. I expected a snaking queue during lunch hour but to my surprise, it wasn’t very long.

I ordered a medium size char kway teow($5) without chilli and was immediately hit with the smell of wok hei. Unlike other char kway teow that I’ve had, Jimmy’s People’s Park char kway teow was on the drier side and wasn’t greasy at all. However, it still retained the full flavour stemming from the wok hei when the chef was cooking the kway teow noodles. The kway teow noodles were both sweet and salty from sweet dark soy sauce used.

The ingredient which I was most astounded by was the hum or blood cockles as these were the biggest I’ve ever seen on a plate of char kway teow. As for their taste, they were fresh, juicy, chewy, plump, and were cooked very well in my opinion. They didn’t give off a fishy taste.

In my opinion, I’d definitely rank Jimmy’s People’s Park Kway Teow as one of the better char kway teow that I’ve had. Despite my preference for char kway teow that are on the oilier side, the thing that sets Jimmy’s People’s Park Kway Teow apart is that even though the kway teow is drier, the wok hei from it is enough to make this a mouth-watering plate of char kway teow.
